Childcare

Most adults have children. Children need safe and engaging care at all times of every day when they are young.
Yet we, as a state, simply expect families to “figure out” childcare. Simply expect quality childcare providers to appear to meet the incredible need. Simply expect the finances to work out between them.
It’s time to prioritize and incentivize high quality childcare for kids from 1-5 years of age across the state. To work to ensure that those who care for our most valuable and vulnerable citizens are not overworked, are not underpaid, and are not scrambling constantly to never meet the needs of the community. There is a place in Iowa for in-home childcare providers and a place for childcare facilities, and both have to be a part of our future. But Iowa has a responsibility to support the families who need options and the providers looking to make this system successful.
