Energy

Iowa has become a leader in the US in wind energy, and has the potential to benefit more from other non-fossil fuel sources of energy, including solar and hydroelectricity.

Although solar tax incentives have been incredibly successful, the residential credit ends in December 2021, and the business credit is only available for projects that begin by end of 2022. Now is the time to evaluate what parts of the program worked and what could be done better for next time to benefit more people in, for example, rental situations.

There is no question that Iowa needs to continue to push, and even to accelerate, the pace at which we transition our energy demands, from homes, farms, and businesses, from natural gas, oil, and coal to long-term, sustainable sources.
